Splinter Weapon Question+Chest Question - Guild Wars Forums

Do heroes cast Splinter Weapon on Minions by chance? I like to run without any melee NPCs in my group because I have, what, 20 minions most of the time, and that's enough melee for me, but I'm wondering if I should kick Splinter out if it's not worth it, or even kick a caster out and put a melee in if it is.
(Discord, by the way, so it's about 35 damage for Splinter, not 50+ with a Rit)

And:
Where do Bo Staves drop via chests, if at all?

i haven't seen it happen to me, but i have read rumors that splinter has been cast on minions once in a while.

Since nobody bothered, I confirmed it myself. Even in a team with no melee members, heroes will never cast Splinter Weapon on minions, even their own, preferring to use it on casters instead... This sucks. 83.13.6.210 22:46, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

They seem to prioritize anyone with martial weapons, but unfortunately that doesn't work well enough either. I often get Splinter Weapon cast on me (me being a Monk wielding a Spear+Shield), even when the party has an actual fighter such as Warrior or Dervish. Once I swap to a staff or wand set, the heroes start correctly casting on the other members with martial weapons.--Sensei 17:11, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

It looks like as long as ALL of your actual party members wield stave class weapons, the minions will be prioritized, otherwise any party member with a physical type weapon will have the highest priority.

I don't know if they pop from chests, but here's a link to where they drop from foes. If they do come from chest, it would probably be in the same areas.
